MAP Testing
Scholars did a great job persevering through more MAP testing this week. Teachers will be able to use this data to better support scholars and track growth. If you have any questions about the MAP testing or other information, please contact your homeroom teacher.
ELA:
Our scholars began to read Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham. They are already excited to see how its protagonist, Nat, will use mathematics to pursue his dreams! Our 4th Graders have also started the memorization of "Paul Revere's Ride" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow--this one will be a feat to memorize, but our scholars show the perseverance they will need to achieve their goals! Great work, Fourth Grade!
Math:
This coming week in math, scholars will be reviewing all that we have learned thus far in the year to take their cumulative Units 1-3 test. We strongly recommend that students attend office hours to review. Then, we will begin our unit in Geometry! We look forward to learning more about lines, angles, and shapes.
History:
Greetings Spartan family! We have concluded our unit on Medieval Europe and scholars took a test to finish up the unit. We are so proud of their perseverance while finishing up this big unit! We are going to be moving onto a small unit on Ancient and Medieval African Kingdoms and Islam. Just like when we started learning about Christianity, remember that we are studying religion to learn/observe/appreciate, not to try and convert or shop around for religions. If you have any questions, feel free to email Ms. Cunningham (gwen.cunningham@greatheartswesternhills.org)
Science:
Scholars are finishing up our unit on structures and functions of living things! We enjoyed learning about different senses that animals are able to use, such as river dolphins using echolocation, or even plants that can smell pheromones from other plants. Next week, we will review and take a test to wrap up what we have been learning about living organisms. Encourage your scholar to reference their student reader and to use the study guide that will come on Monday to help prepare.
