ELA:

Our scholars continue to read Carry On, Mr. Bowditch -- they are invested in Nat and his success as an academic! They also understand the central emotions in the narrative as we follow Nat’s struggles. Additionally, our scholars continue to craft their own writing skills during grammar. This week, our scholars will get to show what they know about direct objects in a quiz. You’re doing great, 4th Grade!

Math:

This coming week in math we will be diving deeply into geometry! Students will discuss angles and degrees. We are focusing on the terms acute, obtuse, and right angles. Scholars will also begin using protractors. For distance learners, we encourage you to acquire a protractor for your scholar, or print out a paper one!

History:

This past week we began our discussion on Islam and learning about the foundations of this religion, as well as how Islam spread. This coming week in history we will continue our discussion on Islam! We will be learning about the different advancements made by Muslim scholars, and then we will conclude with a discussion on The Crusades. DL should expect one video lesson and one reading lesson.

Science:

Scholars did great persevering with their unit test in science this week. Next week, we will spend one more lesson in biology discussing food webs, Helen Keller, and Louis Braille. The remainder of the week we will begin an exploration to energy by connecting that the changes that occur around us are evidence of different forms of energy and energy transfer!
